In a makeshift tent in Ukraine, 8-year-old Anna clutches a teddy bear, her eyes wide with fear as explosions echo in the distance. In Sudan, 12-year-old Ahmed walks miles daily to collect water, his school reduced to rubble. These children are not statistics—they are symbols of innocence shattered by conflict. At Child Protection Global Network (CPGN), we believe no child should endure the horrors of war alone. This is why strengthening child protection in humanitarian crises is a global imperative—not just a mission, but a moral responsibility.
War spares no one, but children pay the heaviest price. Over 250 million children live in conflict zones today, facing unimaginable threats:
Why should children be protected from war? Because their resilience is not infinite. Trauma from conflict can alter brain development, perpetuate cycles of poverty, and erase their sense of safety.
Under international law, Article 77 of the Geneva Convention mandates special protection for children in war. It prohibits their recruitment into armed forces and prioritizes their care during conflicts. Yet, violations persist. CPGN works with local partners to hold governments and armed groups accountable, ensuring child protection policies are enforced and safe zones are established.
Schools should be sanctuaries. But in conflict zones, they become targets. In Syria, 1 in 3 schools is destroyed. In Yemen, 2 million children are out of school. Without education, children lose more than literacy—they lose hope. CPGN partners with communities to create child-friendly spaces in humanitarian settings, temporary classrooms where kids can learn, play, and heal.
These spaces are more than tents with toys. They are lifelines:
In South Sudan, CPGN’s child-friendly spaces have helped over 5,000 children regain their right to childhood.
Organizations like War Child and CPGN adopt proven strategies to shield children:
Your donation funds these solutions, turning despair into dignity.
CPGN’s field teams deploy evidence-based interventions:
In Gaza, these efforts have kept 85% of children in our programs enrolled in school despite ongoing conflict.
As an NGO for child welfare, CPGN is committed to healing and protecting young lives torn by conflict.
You can play a vital role in restoring hope and safety.

Conflict disrupts every facet of childhood—but healing is possible. In Rwanda, CPGN supported youth orphaned by genocide through vocational training. Today, many run businesses, proving that child development in war-torn countries can flourish with sustained investment.
